Adolescent Psychotherapy

I provide support for adolescents who are experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties, in a warm and accepting therapeutic space. The aim of this therapy, is for the client to learn a greater degree of self-understanding and meaning-making, in the setting of a confidential and collaborative therapeutic relationship.

Therapy is about making contact with the client. How this develops within the session, depends on the person’s specific needs. During a session with me, the client can work through issues using; talking, drawing, painting, drama, sandtray, music, movement, mindfulness and cognitive behavioural techniques.

Psychotherapy/Counselling can benefit the client in ways such as:

  • Increase sense of self and meaning in life
  • Increase self-esteem and self-acceptance
  • Reduces feeling of shame and isolation
  • Increase feelings of personal power, hope and optimism for the future

This therapy is suitable for any adolescents between the age of 13 and 18 who could benefit from some support to deal with the challenges of life. Issues which may present in Adolescent Psychotherapy include:

  • Bereavement and Loss
  • Low self-esteem
  • Depression
